Large moss-covered Oak and Mahogany trees have created an amazing canopy over this East-West running road just South of the Miami International Airport. We were lucky enough to stumble across this location after picking up our rental car while heading down for a week of diving in the Florida Keys. With a little planning, and some dodging of oncoming traffic, I was able to capture this amazing scene on our way back from the Keys before spending a few days on South Beach. Miami, FL

South Pointe Pier

The 450ft pier located at the bottom of South Beach and the South Pointe Park was an excellent place to spend one of the last sunrises during our trip to the Miami and the Florida Keys. The adjacent breakwater was completely void of people and served as an excellent vantage point to take in the pier as high wind gusts and waves crashed behind me. It proved to be an excellent end to a great vacation. South Beach, FL

White Street Pier

On our second attempt to visit Key West (after an overturned truck blocking the highway forced us to turn around the day before), we arrived on the south side of the Key right at sunset. We had been told Mallory Square was the place to be for sunsets at this time of year, but thought this pier at the end of White Street would be less crowded. A late evening storm was rolling through just as the sun dipped below the clouds, allowing me to capture the rich texture and colours within the scene. A few minutes later and we would’ve missed it!
